Cat Health Books

The Cornell Book of Cats by Mordecai Siegal Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook

A great book for everybody, while it doesn't get too technical, it does cover most subjects well enough for the average cat owner. A good reference book for any cat owner.

Another great book covering all aspects of cat health. I have this book & find it very easy to follow, without skimping on detail. Highly recommended.

Cat Breeding & Genetics

Robinson's Genetics For Cat Breeders & Veterinarians
by Carolyn M. Vella

Cats Are Not Peas by Laura Gould

Although it is technical, it's not over the top. I think most people with a little knowledge of genetics would understand this book.   I managed to read this book without too much difficulty. It is a great reference book to have & I would recommend it to all cat breeders.

Inspired by the authors male calico cat, this book looks at feline genetics. Well written, and amusing, this book is a must for any cat lover interested in feline genetics.

Medical, Genetic & Behavioural Aspects of Purebred Cats by Ross Clark Cat Breeding By Dan Rice

I borrowed this book from a friend many years ago & was so impressed that I wanted to buy a copy myself. I spent years trying to track it down to no avail. It seems there are now a few second hand copies available. A must have for the cat breeder. This is a good, all round book for the cat breeder covering all aspects of cat breeding. I didn't find it overly technical, so makes a good read for the novice breeder, but also a good reference book for the more experienced ones.

Miscellaneous

All My Patients Are Under The Bed by Dr. Louis J. Camuti

Cleo by Helen Brown

Cleo by Helen Brown

This book is a must for the cat lover. Written by a New York veterinarian, he recounts stories & tales of his encounters with his feline patients. This book is absolutely wonderful & highly recommended.

Helen Brown wasn't a cat person, but her nine-year-old son Sam was. Helen's heart melted as Sam held one of the kittens in his and the deal was done - the kitten would be delivered when she was big enough to leave her mother. A week later, Sam was dead. Not long after, a little black kitten was delivered to the grieving family.
This is the story of how a small black feline helped mend a family's broken hearts by sheer force of her cat personality.
It is a warm and often funny book about love, loss and redemption.

This is an absolute must for any cat lover. I absolutely loved this book & can highly recommend it as a gift to yourself or a cat loving friend.

Veterinary

Saunders Comprehensive Veterinary Dictionary

The Feline Patient

I have this book & find it very useful for looking up medical terminology. Probably not necessary for the average pet lover, but certainly useful for breeders & those interested in all things medical.

This is another great book. Written for veterinarians, it is not suitable for the inexperienced cat owner, but it a worthwhile book to have on hand for people with an interest in feline medicine.
