Cat-World does not knowingly allow members to post illegal, copyrighted, slanderous material etc. However, we do not pre-moderate posts on the Cat-World forums, therefore, from time to time inappropriate posts may show up on the forums. Cat-World goes to great lengths to stay within the law & ensure members stick within the law. If you believe a member, post or thread contains illegal material (be it copyright, defamatory, slander), please contact a Cat-World staff member immediately, and we will look into it & take action where necessary.
Minors
Minors under the age of 13 are not permitted to use the Cat-World forums or chat room.
For your own safety, minors (under 18) are not permitted to use the PM system, nor can Cat-World members PM a minor. If you are a minor & need to contact a moderator please post a message in the "Messages for Cat-World Staff" forum & we will assist you.
Furthermore, minors are not permitted to give out any specific information which may identify you such as location, school, club etc. You are also not permitted to fill in or give out your AOL IM, MSN, Yahoo IM etc., details on the Cat-World forums. E-mail addresses, phone numbers etc., also cannot be given on the Cat-World forums by minors.
Miscellaneous
Cat-World is not responsible for the content of any member's posts, and the views expressed on Cat-World are the responsibility of the posting member and not Cat-World. Cat-World does not preview member posts in any way before they appear on the site. Any link posted to a third-party internet address does not imply an endorsement of that site or its content by Cat-World.
Posting
Please respect other people's feelings. It is ok to disagree with a person posting a message, but don't make it personal. No name calling.
As with our signature guidelines, to prevent members joining Cat-World with the sole reason of promoting another website we ask that you do not put a link to any site until you have a post count of 100+. Once you reach 100 posts you may place a discreet link to competing cat sites in your signature. As a rule of thumb, if you stand to gain either financially (via business, selling a product, pay per click) or members (for example on forums), then you may not post a link until you have reached 100 posts.
Personal attacks, aggressive, offensive, defamatory or antagonistic behavior
The Cat-World forums are NOT a place to air one's dirty laundry. Any post which attacks or insults a person, or breeder, business, a cat club, welfare organisation or website either directly or by innuendo will have their post removed. Repeat offenders will be banned. Keep public gripes & politics off the boards. If you have any complaints, comments or questions in regards to cat clubs, councils or welfare organisations then please refer to them for clarification. Cat-World no longer permits these types of discussion due to their volatility.
Do not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, racist, sexually oriented, offensive to a person's religion, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Do not use the forums to initiate or continue hostility expressed toward any staff or member;
Cat-World reserves the right to edit, modify or delete any post made in such an event.
No flooding of the boards. Please post on a topic in one forum only.
Spammers or people posting "get rich quick" schemes will be banned on the spot.
If a thread has been locked by an administrator or moderator, please do not start a new thread which relates to the same topic.
Medical questions
When placing a question or answering a question regarding a cats health please do not give or request medical advice. This is the role of a qualified veterinary practitioner. In particular medical recommendations for prescription drugs and dose rates may not be given in the open forum. If you have knowledge or experience about a specific treatment that may be helpful in a particular instance you may offer your suggestion via pm provided it is made clear that a Veterinary Surgeon MUST manage the case.
Bumping
Members who artificially bump up their post count to gain access to extra features or forums will have such posts deleted & their post count altered accordingly. Repeat offenders will be kept in the members group & not granted access to off topic areas & extra features.
Privacy
You are required to supply us with a valid e-mail address to register on the forums. This address is viewable by the administrators of Cat-World only. Your e-mail will NEVER be passed onto a third party. Administrators & moderators are able to see your IP address. This ensures that we have more control over the forums & are able to ban members by IP address should they cause trouble. Once again, this information is not passed onto third parties.
Privacy & copyright
You may not publish the following on the Cat-World forums. Personal emails, letters, messages from other forums or message boards, private messages, articles (including news stories, books, website features, content from other websites & photographs) permission has been granted by the photographer/author.
No posting of other people's personal information. Website addresses are fine, but please don't post other people's contact information (ie: name, e-mail, phone number).
Usernames You may not create a username that contains profanity or is the name of a company or product.
Cat-World reserves the right to change, modify or update these rules at any time without notification. Membership in and the use of resources contained within Cat-World constitutes full agreement and acknowledgement of the restrictions, limitations and terms set forth in this agreement.
