Design Of Cat Netting

Hi Everyone, I'm just after some advice on the best design of cat-proof netting for our backyard. I've had a look through this to get some ideas, but also came across this photo on a netting website. I'm keen to have something that isn't really visible from our neighbour's yard (I've told them that the netting would be unobtrusive) but am just wondering if you think this design would actually hold the moggies in, or does it really need to be on an angle?

I think it depends on the moggy.
One disadvantage of the horizontal design is that it's less effective at keeping visitors out of your garden. Horizontal netting would be better if it weren't sturdy - if it's a little saggy it doesn't provide a firm footing and cats are less likely to try walking across it or hanging out of it.
One thing I'd recommend is trying the design in an interior doorway of the house. Build yourself sort of 3/4 size block for the door, and try your netting on the top of it, jutting into the room they're in. Then see how long it takes them - if they're able at all - to get out past it...
