I have a problem in that I need fresh air to function as in fling open all doors and windows fresh air. We are coming up to warmer weather and my back doors are impossible to install screens on them. They are aluminium frames/doors which fold flat against the house and we are not allowed to attach anything to the house.

Our "yard" is very small and quite packed. I am waiting to pick up a couple cat run modules which will be placed against the few small windows we have down the side of our house meaning I can open these windows without fear of escaping kitties. The problem though is that with a 3 year old, my love of fresh air, the nature of the doors being ones which swing completely out and knowing we essentially live outdoors in summer I don't want to lock my kitties in the laundry or the bedroom end of the house - even though they will have access to an outdoor module and all the essentials, they are members of my family.

I would love to cat proof the yard, but we cannot attach anything to the house. The fence we can get away with as long as it does not protrude above it at all - old people don't like seeing stuff that isn't theirs over the fence, the ruckus about the trampoline was insane.

We do however have permission to attach stuff to the carport/patio structure thingy and have the clothesline on the side of the house we could tie something to, the trampoline which we have attached shade sails to (which works very well) and a few other points where we could get away with perhaps stringing up line to hold cat netting.

I really cannot risk my kitties getting out at all. We live on a busy road and there are lots of stray cats around so if I do cat proof the yard it needs to be fool proof also. I would love to have the option of getting the professionals out, but realistically we can't afford it sad.gif
I am not sure if it would be conceivable to basically cover the whole yard from the fences to the house with cat netting, but there's the issue of how to attach it close to the house? I was wondering if we attached one of those steel tension wires from the fence near the trampoline to the carport structure, then from the carport structure down the drive, installing some sort of poles down there it could work? Gaps in the fence or down the side of the house would be blocked by cat netting or steel mesh.

Would this work?

I am really just after some feedback, I have never installed a cat enclosure before and as much as I'd love it not to be, cost is a factor... as we don't even know if we will be here after our 18 month lease expires?

Thanks in advance

the doors, we have 2 sets of these one near the trampoline and the other next to the clothesline

what they look like open flat against the house - nowhere to put a screen or even really attach one

I think you could mesh the whole yard quite cheaply ...check this out..if you look at the way the connect things to buildings you may get some ideas ..they also have good specials for large quantities.
