Is he microchipped? Have a look at the articles at the top of Lost and Found topic. There are some good tips for looking for missing cats. I would also suggest contacting your local council (Bayswater), Cat Haven and the RSPCA which is in Malaga so not far away.
I hope he comes home soon. When he comes home, maybe this is a good time to consider either an outside enclosure or making him an inside cat.
Come home Smookie!!

Keep going out, especially in the evening and at night as cats are more likely to answer your calls then when it is quiet. Make up some posters and distribute them in mailboxes around the area - go at least 5 streets in each direction, and in local shopping centres, vets, shelters etc. It may help to offer a reward, you don't have to say how much, but sometimes people will look more if they think they will get a reward. Above all, don't give up, many lost cats have been found weeks and months after they have gone missing. Keep going out and calling him, maybe put a little food outside for him just in case he is still around, and ask neighbors to check in garages, laundries, sheds etc as he might be hiding there. Good luck, and let us know how you are going. Come home Smookie!

Thanks for your supportive responses!
He is microchipped and I have left food out and his bed too so he feels like it's his home.
the vets in the area know and the rspca refer people to the cat haven so I have placed a missing report there too.
Then last night a cat did eat the biscuits I left out, nearly half the bowl. How can I tell if it was him or not?
I will keep calling him morning & night and make some flyers for the local streets.
If anyone sees him please let me know and thanks again.

a friend told me today that male cats even when fixed will search at night because it's close to mating season now.
and apparently being in a new area he would go a bit further than he usually would at our old place and try to dominate old cats that came his way.
has anyone heard of this and any advice to offer to get him home?
Thanks,

I hope you find your Kitty really soon. As others have said don't give up. Keep searching for him. Go to the shelters personally and have a look. Also contact the old peoples homes in the area and local kinders and schools. Ask if you can put a note in their schoold newsletters if you make a donation. Definitely offer a reward but don't put an amount on the flyer. Tell a little white lie and say he is under vet care, most people won't keep a cat if they think it is going to cost them money. Good luckand lots of
for you
Come on Smookie come home.

Hoping you find Smookie real soon.
My cat went missing for nearly 2 weeks many years ago, and he finally came home. Just wanted to give you some positive news.
I remember my parents thought I was mad calling him day and night, but it worked.
Sending lots of
