Please confine her to one room with her litter tray, food water etc and give her a good time to settle in - the house may be far too much space for her and you need to establish a safe space for her - it may take quite a while for her to settle. Go in and chat with her and encourage her to relax - just talk to her to start with and let her work out that you don't intend to harm her. Perhaps be with her and read a paper or book out loud....play a radio softly.
There is no way of knowing what she has been through. If she was ok with you where you got her from she will no doubt settle given time.....but take it slowly.
Put some Rescue Remedy in her water and behind her ears and if you can get one plug in a Feliway diffuser.
Take a long slow time to introduce her to other cats. Good luck with her.

Once she is just guarded but not petrified you can start to try a feather on a stick....and keeping away see if she shows interest.

Yes that is a good thing....do what Fleabag (Bronnie) suggested. She does need to hide until she is 100% sure you are not going to harm her....poor little girl. I like the humming, talking soft stories and not looking. Cats stare each other down so you don't want to do that.
It's important that you let her come to you....it will take time....but it sounds like she really needs a patient owner who will love her as she is.
Just to add that sometimes I get an adult cat come here and even with fairly confident cats you need them to come round in their own time.
