Hi all, need some advice?

My ginger boy (only 8 months old) carries his food ALL around the house, then leaves it, forgets it and get another bit to carry around. Be it bits of dry, raw meat, chicken necks or what ever - i find them all over the place, sometimes days later when they are smelly and gross. Best one is when i found his chicken neck under the quilt after a day at work, yuck!
Ive started to lock him in the kitchen to feed, but he gets upset and cries and claws at the door and doesnt really eat anything either. I dont like locking the cats in the 1 room either when im at work, so by the time i get home, hes carried his food all over the house for me.

He also likes to dig ALL the food out the bowls - not just his, but of the other 2 cats also. That creates a nice mess.
Every day when i get home from work I have to scour the house for bits of food so they dont attract ants n stuff, its driving me crazy!

Hes well fed, probably too well fed sometimes, so im not sure why hes doing this. Anyone else had a cat that does this?

Can't say I've had this problem to the same extent you have. One of my cats - Nicholas will play with his chicken necks and wings and large beef chunks and won't eat them. I don't give him Necks or Wings anymore and I have to cut up his beef chunks into smaller pieces.

What sort of food are you feeding your cats? Perhaps the ginger boy can't handle large chicken necks because he doesn't realise it's food?

They get a bit of a variety of food. They have dry 24/7 and get 2 small meals morning and night. A mix of raw meat chunks, fresh mince, bit of cooked chicken, even some fresh fish.
Problem is he will carry anything around, even his dry food. Its like its a game, he will toss it around, chase it but then leave it and get a new bit to play with. I havent given any of them chicken necks for a week cos he will take them all and play with them.
Came home today to a kitchen full of scattered dry food that he had dug out of the bowl. Thought a deeper bowl might discourage him from digging it all out, but nope.

LOL, the necks are the most popular for being transported at our place too, nothing in our bed yet but often under the bed wub.gif

yes Paul my 2 little ones take necks under my bed, one of the reasons I now have floating timber floor thru the whole house, no carpet to be seen,

I can relate to your problem as our Maine Coon girl does that as well. She also has a habit of picking her meat up and dunking it in the water bowl before eating it. That is fine as long as it doesn't fall in the water because then we have a flood over the kitchen floor as she tries to retrieve her meat. The joys of their funny little habits.

Our little bengal does this with her necks. We just observe her while eating now. She also puts her foam balls into the OH's bag before he goes to work every morning.

Rastus does this with all his fresh food - chicken necks and wings/diced meat. He either goes into his tunnel or onto our loungeroom rug! Hubby is not happy with this sad.gif

Our bengal used to do this. I used to lock the bedroom door and this stopped her bringing it under the bed. Maybe only feed raw when you are there to supervise.
