my question is if i take her outside will she still like being inside...
my step dad told me he did that with his cat let it out once and could never keep it inside again. the cat would alway meow and cry until he let her out after a few weeks of her behaviour he gave up and let her out! he said the moment you let a cat experiance the life she could have she wont want to stay inside.
i live in a unit and i cant let her out here, there is to many cars and a school next door but i would like to take her to the park or somewhere more quite where she can wonder around and explore.
WHAT DO I DO? try it and hope she normal after, or not try it at all because i cant let her outside its not an option.

Now when we get the harnesses out Nikita jumps onto the chair where she normally dons it and Tobes goes to the screen door knowing where he is going once its on,
I was also initially worried that too much outside would make them not want to be inside but they seem happy all round,

They dont need to go far, mine love our garden,it will take them years to fully explore that but then Ragdlls are not quick movers, they get outside explore for a bit, then flop on the grass

Well, Its up to you,I do have a bit of rebel in me about the rules of modern day life so if a sign only just says no dogs, then cats are certainly allowed in my mind and i would take mine, take a picture of the sign just in case and make the imbecile councils take you to court before paying any fine in case it ever came to that,
I got a fine once for letting my son fly a radio control plane in a school oval where the sign just said "no golf or dogs allowed", i didnt pay the fine on principle, and funnily enough they couldnt find a room for me in jail,
The sign at the school oval reads different now

We take him every evening just walking around the streets, which includes a park. My boyfriend put him in a tree once and now he loves to run and leap on trees and tries to climb them, and telegraph poles! So be warned there will be sudden bursts of running, so have a firm hold on the leash and put your running shoes on
As for dogs, Zanzi hasn't been too bad, he mostly freezes and lies down, as if they won't be able to see a white cat against a dark pavement

im really happy i got her the leash now its great bonding time for us!
thank you all for your advise and Zanzi sound like the coolest cat on the block!!!
a get a few pretty funny looks mostly when my boyfriends holding the leash because he is a bodybuidler with a cat sorta looks odd i guese but his a big baby too!

The other 2 are terrified of the great outdoors, ive had a few nasty scratches from just trying to carry them out there! Gonna try what you are doing and see how he goes on a harness.

I think what you did is ok - put her in a carry box and take her to your mum's place now and then for a leash walk.....and I personally would never take a cat out in the open where a dog might emerge that would attack a cat - what would you do if one attacked her? she would go mental and the dog could well kill her.
One of the Birman breeders who posts here had their little cat killed sitting peacefully in the front garden while they were gardening - a neighbours dog killed it before anyone could act.
Mum's place once in a while sounds a good compromise to me unless you have your own fenced garden. Perhaps I am over-reacting but even walking a dog poses risk of attach from another dog and I notice people walking with a switch in hand around here to ward off straying dogs.

i took her to mums last monday! on the way home in the cat box she started panting like a dog and got really sweaty paws pads? but at mums she loved every minute she didn't run once outside she just wondered around in there massive garden and before we left she sat 30min with us in the shade so it wasn't that she was exhusted! is it still a good idea taking her to mums? if the car trip there is going to be like this again?
