Hi Everyone,
Have just joined and still checking out all the forums and info - so will hopefully learn the 'ropes' soon!
I found this site through searching for more info on crf. My munchkin is 19 years old and was diagnosed around 6 months ago with crf. I didn't get the numbers from the vet but she wasn't doing too bad at that stage. She is on Fortekor tablets daily and although I tried the renal cat food, she hates it! She's had two major 'episodes' in the last few months which saw her unwell for a few days each time but then she has pulled through and improved again. I was sure her time was up during those 'episodes' and the poor vet had to calm me down more than her!!!
She's up and down these days but generally still plodding along okay. I know time is limited so I figure she can eat what she wants as long as she's eating and basically happy. This is the first elderly pet I've had, other than when i was a kid living at home (many years ago!!!) so it's certainly a challenging time, especially as she is my little feline soulmate! I discovered her near my work, only a couple of weeks old and she was the only survivor from a stray litter - a tiny black and white ball of fluff that fitted into the palm of one hand! And we've certainly had an adventure together since then!
Look forward to getting to know other feline parents here!

P.S. By the way, she is named after a football player from the Aussie footy team I follow - the player's surname was Daicos. When she was found as a stray kitten everyone was convinced it was a 'he', hence the name. The vet soon informed me that 'he' was actually a 'she' but by then the name had already stuck! It's a wonder she doesn't have a complex as everyone assumes she's a boy!!!

hehe I picked the connection to the name straight away! Not just cats on common.
Welcome to CW. You will really enjoy your time spent here. And sweet Daicos what a lovely story of a furball that has melted your heart for many many years.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm looking forward to talking all things cats!
Here is a photo of Daicos from about 3 years ago snoozing in the garden. I probably have about 1001 photos of her at home (I'm quickly typing this at work!!!) so will hunt out a couple more favourites!
