I'm Jamie from Newcastle in NSW and I'm new to the forum!
I've always loved cats, but have never tried keeping one before since I'm generally allergic to them (from mildly, to full blown wheezing when my friend's Persian just -walked- into the same room I was in).
Anyway, about a week ago, a little lady came strolling up our backyard. We gave her some tuna as she seemed hungry, and she wolfed down the food. Anyway, we thought she was owned by some neighbour as she really seemed too friendly to be a stray/feral, so didn't think too much about it after she left. But then she came back day after day, and somehow, she ended up in the house, and on the couch, the window sill, etc.
My partner and I fell in love with her naturally as she seems really sweet-tempered, so we thought we'd bring her to the vet to see if she's microchipped and we'd also put up some flyers around our area too to see if she was someone's pet, otherwise we'd happily adopt her.
Turns out, she's not microchipped, and we haven't had any responses, so we're going back to the vet this week to get her microchipped and for her vaccinations. I'm a bit worried she's pregnant though since I can't tell if she's been desexed at all or not (and it doesn't make sense of she was owned before to be desexed and not microchipped?). We really don't have the expertise to look after a litter of kittens, so hopefully everything's okay and we'll get her desexed asap.
Anyway, sorry for the long intro; I'm just giddy to actually have a cat as a pet (or soon enough anyway!), and one who I'm not overly allergic too! (I'm only allergic when she gets super affectionate and rubs her nose on my face. Lol!)
To make it up for my long post, here's a photo of the little girl that's come to live with us. We've named her Fidget since she really can't seem to stay still for any length of period!

Thanks for reading and I hope to get to know more of you soon on the forum! I'll hopefully spam with more photos of Fidget soon too!
