My sister's 12 year old DSH Whiskey has recently been diagnosed with FIV and I have decided that our Crystal , who is an inside out girl should be tested and vaccinated if she is given the all clear. She seems to be as fit as a malley bull and is looking lovely at the moment so I am not expecting bad news but you never know . She is a fiesty little thing and has been in a few fights over the years. My sister's cat was not looking well , very dull lifeless coat, skinny, fur missing around his neck and then he lost his appetite.
My biggest dilema will be if she is positive , how do i keep her inside away from infecting other cats without putting Rocket and Azzy at risk. Rocket doesn't bother her and keeps out of her way but Azzy is in for a penny in for a pound and will corner her and pester her until she swipes him and he is so quick and sneeky he's in there before you know it . We only have a small house and the living areas are all open so the cat shuffle is a big challange and she really doesn't like being inside 24/7. I think the best option is going to be enclose part of the side garden to keep the dogs out and build an enclosure for her with access to one bedroom .................... the boys will have to wait for their enclosure .
Also do i get The boys Vaccinated for FIV if she is positive ......................I really don't want to if I can avoid it .

There is so many risks with letting cats out........
FIV is of course one of them..........
The vaccination against FIV now has a good success rate.............it is extremely hard to keep a cat used to going outdoors in, so the vaccination is a good alternative.
Great you got good news Gina........
Hugs,
Sue
