Am I Crazy To Want To Bring Another Cat Into My Household

As some of you may know, currently we are a 2 cat household, with 12 year old indoor kitties, siblings, Timmy & Misty, DSH adoptees (not of course counting Mr Cat, who is the outdoor only cat). I have however been smitten by a certain little cat, who is a young 6 1/2 month old, and am currnelty canvasing my OH to let me bring this little angel into our home. She is very good with kids and other cats, and has been quite used to them, but my OH has reservations on how our 2 would handle this newcomer. Any words of wisdom on whether I should proceed, and how slowly I should take any introduction into the home (obviously put the newcomer into a seperate area, and just let them play footsies under the door until things are settled), or whether I should just put this whole idea right out of my head?
Any advice and words of wisdom / prior experience would be much appreciated

I think you should go for it. Lady, who would have been about 5-6 months at the time, was introduced to my parents 19 and 11 year old cats when I went away for a few weeks. Lady was confined to my old bedroom and the other cats had free run of the house. The 19 year old wasn't phased at all by her but the 11 year old was.
After a week of Lady being confined the 11 year old cat finally decided he would poke her under the door. He would chat to her from the other side for hours on end but when they saw each other they still didn't like it.
After 2 weeks they were tolerant of each other, not playing and after 3 weeks they were best of friends and still see each other every now and then

Hi Linda,
You know what I think, you can never have enough cats, if only I could convince my husband of that. We have talked about this, I would have 1 of each type of group 1 cat, LOL. Boston very much thought he had the run of the household, but it didn't take Vogue long to teach him otherwise. They learn to live together, besides think of the endless entertainment value for your family.
Regards,
Lisa

Is it a little Devon you're in love with?
I think it can be done. I did it when I introduced an old geriatric devon (my first) at 12ish years old into my house with a dalmatian plus rotating foster dogs and a 3 year old DSH kitty. It took a few weeks to get them happy, but in the end it was great.
