Hello everyone smile.gif

I'm new to these forums and new to owning cats. Some back ground is in order I guess smile.gif

My wife and I are newly weds dating many a year. Both growing up around cats (Im 25 and my Wife 27) but never our own.

My parents are owners and lovers of Maine Coons and have had a few in my life time living at home.

My Wifes parents have also had many cats at this point in time they have 2 Burmese brothers and a Seal point Ragdoll. Beautiful cats I must say so. The Ragdoll was 2 years old when they got her. She was a breeding cat but after the first litter she was desexed as she didn't "Like it"

I've never really had much to do with kittens or really looking after cats. I don't know the first thing when all is said. I didn't like my parents Maine Coons and they didn't like me (I was clawed a lot as a baby from my mums first one). But dating my wife I met there very cuddly Ragdoll and my god I fell in love with her smile.gif

We moved out in to a unit 3 years ago and last friday asked the owner if we could have an Indoor only cat, To which he was fast to say no problem too smile.gif

That night it was an easy pick for both of us to pick a Ragdoll as our first cat. Then we started looking for registered breeders and our first google hit was Cat-World. We only looked at registered breeders as both sets of parents only got there kittens from them and we wanted to know the best care went in to the kittens.

Going in to this I didn't know there were waiting lists for these great cats. We starting shooting off e-mails to all breeders we found on this site and a few more in other places to see if any had kittens not already owned. We got 2 hits but sadly we e-mailed back to slow (30min to an hour) and they have been claimed. Bummed about how hard it is to find one of these great cats we started looking at places to put our name down for.

We woke on Sunday morning and as the wife was in the shower I googled Ragdolls again and came to Bigponds Trading post. On there was a Post with 2 beautiful Ragdolls for sale but no link to a website. I looked at the e-mail given and googled it to see if the person was a registered breeder and sure enuff www.winterdew.com came up with the e-mail.

Shooting off an e-mail to them very quickly, we found out she had 2 of the most beautiful and perfect Ragdolls with out owners. After some talk with the wife we couldn't bare to split them up and took them both not knowing they where 12 weeks old and ready to come over to us. We where shocked when we opened our e-mail to find they where going to be sent to perth on wednesday. So not ready for them at all we went out on Tuesday afternoon and spent a lot on everything they may need. Getting home we washed everything again with safe and green cleaning stuff to make sure they wouldn't get hurt.

We got to the airport at 7.15pm Wednesday night (Got losts or would have been sooner) to find them waiting for us smile.gif (The plane landed at 6.28pm)

It's now Thurdsay morning in perth and what should of taken 5min to type out has taken 40min as I have 2 of the most beautiful and playful Ragdolls running around me wanting to play. I've taken the day off work today to make sure there not lonely and my wife has taken tomorrow off smile.gif

End long story smile.gif

Ok now to the things that matter now. The Breeder is such a nice person and has told us what to feed them when to feed them and everything. Shes very professional about the whole thing smile.gif and giving us a tone of help smile.gif as i've said I have never raised kittens before, My wife has but never Ragdoll kittens. Is there anything that we should be looking out for ? They seem to like playing with no end. They have been awake for 5 hours now and there still going and going there wearing me out fast them im wearing them out !

Time for some pictures smile.gif

The male is a Seal point mitted and the female a tabby mitted.

Hello and welcome to CW to you and Ava and Felix. I used to have a seal point, and I have a blue mitted, I just love raggies. wub.gif I also have a DSH, no offence to my Harley lol.
Are you brushing them regularly? We are close to shedding season, and my raggies have always loved a regular groom in the evening with a slicker brush, and if you aren't going to show them and the amount of fur gets a little out of control try a Zoom Groom as well, most furries love a zoomie. What are you feeding them? I find mixing Oral Care biscuits with Hairball control biscuits really helps, along with some tinned and some raw.

And, most importantly, you need to stick around and keep posting pics of these two beautiful furries so we can watch them growing up! yes.gif

Thanks all for the welcome. They have been sleeping now for the past 3 hours. I think I played with them a little to much.

I was looking at some of my old pictures on an old CD and found some of my Wifes mothers cats.

Here are some of her Burmese cats. There such great pets love sleeping with you. Love biting toes when ur sleeping eyebrow.gif The pictures are from 2005 there still alive and doing well.

Hi and welcome!
I think you'll be great owners for these little guys...you both sound very responsible, and I am sure both sets of "grandparents" will give you lots of great advice as well.
I've owned 4 cats, but 3 were aged 3 years or older when I got them, only 1 kitten so far. Kittens are fun, but crazy - and two at the same time...lol, you are in for some wild times!

And I've just found enuff pictures of the Big purring hair ball that started our love for Ragdolls.

She didn't act like any of the sites say Ragdolls should act. She let you know when wanted to eat even at 5am ! She didn't like to be cuddled when you wanted to. It was always in her time. She liked to talk to you when your on the phone and sleep with you in summer, Which is never fun when its 38c at night !
