My OH absolutely hates cats and nothing I can do to change this. Iv'e tried for more years than I can remember and have now given up.

The problem is during the night Lexie's desperate to get into our bed. To do this she has to get through a closed door. So trying, she jumps and jumps at the door handle and she scratches and scratches at the door at the door. She has actually managed to open the door several times in her efforts. Then sneak into bed with me. Where one goes so does the other, very soon I have the 2 of them snuggled up beside me. They think all their Christmases have come at once. And thats fine as long as OH doesn't wake up.

If we lock them out the back part of the house they still scratch on the doors to get out. Iv'e put the heated pad in the basket where they snooze a lot of the day and night. She wont sleep with either of the kids, it has to be me.

Does anyone have any ideas as to whether some sort of spray or is there anything on the market that will discourage her from scratching the doors?? no.gif

Thanks Sheryl

LOL...my mother likes to sleep with her little Pomeranian and my dad is afraid to sleep with her being she is so tiny. So my mom made her "napping room" just to sleep with the dog.

My cats were scratching the headboard and i got double sided sticky tape and left it on there until they left it alone. You can buy some at a pet supply store i think it is called sticky paws. it is furniture safe. however on my headboard after months of being on there it was sooo hard to get it off. so change it frequently!

Fortunately for ME, my OH understood better than I did, when we were dating, that having cats is more important to me than having a husband, or even a S.O. (AKA a boyfriend) whistle.gif so technically I am in the "Sleep with the cats, put your OH out on the porch" camp.

HOWEVER if you stay the course, and not give in, and JUST IGNORE THEM, the cats will get used of the idea that the bedroom is off limits, just the sameway that MOST cats can happily live indoors all thietr lives - Said she who has ONE cat who WILL NOT stay indoors It take @ 3 weeks of consistantly ignoring them no matter what though.

Renae

Edited to add that the doublesided sticky tape REALLY DOES WORK.
