Hi all,

I wasn't sure where to post this question so forgive me if I'm on the wrong forum.

I am new to cat ownership, Beama is 8 months old and in 4 weeks we happily collect his full sister from the next litter. Beama is a male desexed Burmese.

Reading through these forums - learning lots thank you! - I have come across several references to brushing cats teeth, plus seen some clips on youtube which to me looked like the cat sucking the paste off the brush and not having their teeth brushed....but I digress.....

I was of the understanding that cats chew on raw bones to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Beama has a raw chicken neck or a half wing every day.

Should I also be brushing his teeth?

I've seen others post that their cat has a neck or wing once a week. Is that too little or am I giving too much? I guess now I'm slipping a bit into nutrition which is something else that I find frustrating as I'm hearing such conflicting advice. As a matter of interest we have recently switched to a BARF diet as Beama was eating less and less wet food until it just sat and stunk the laundry out. I also leave Advance dry food out for him 24/7 and he was eating a whole cup each day but has eaten only that amount in the last 4 days.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice :-)

Off to shower now - been napping on the couch with Miss 8 who woke us all up at 4am today, ugh.

Hi

Giving the necks/wings every day is great. Three out of the four of my cats have necks nearly every day. The vet always comments on how good their teeth are. So you are doing the right things by their teeth and no you don't need to brush them!!

Oh thank you :-)
I'm a Nazi with my kids teeth brushing...still have to physically do it 2 X day for my 8yo, really didn't want to add a cat to that routine :-)
