Hi everyone!

I have a 2 year old DSH adopted from the cat shelter and am looking to add another kitty to keep him company.

The issue is, I am having big problems trying to settle on a breed -- I love everything!

But to narrow it down, I am torn between a Scottish Fold and a Devon Rex. Having a dog who has joint problems now, I'm afraid that if I get a fold, I may be dealing with arthritis problems later on and it's no fun...I would hate to see him/her suffer, as cute as they are. I have also heard excellent things about their personalities.

On the other hand, I am in love with the affectionate nature of the Devon Rexes. I know they have quite different activity levels, but it really doesn't matter to me because either is fine.

I was browsing through the forum and noticed that Joy has experience with both of these breeds and got excited. smile.gif But...then I realized that I'm unable to send her a PM (no permission to). Can someone please direct her to this thread? Thanks!

If anyone has any opinions regarding my dilemma, please do share - I've love to hear it all smile.gif

Thanks for reading!!

I don't know anything about folds but I'm sure Joy will be along soon to tell you more, but I have lived with devons. Devons are the naughtiest kitties you will ever be owned by, they climb curtains, steal food off your plates, open cupboard doors, but they are also very people orientated and are soooooo entertaining you can't help but love them. There is nothing nicer than cuddling up with a devon or two on a cold winters night because they feel like hot water bottles. I just love the feel of their coats too and their little pixie faces.

Go to a few cats shows and speak to the breeders - cuddle a few cats and make a decision then.

Hi Helen, I hope I gave you enough information in the PM. If not please don't hesitate to ask more question. I do love both breeds, but they are very different in personality.

Well does your kitty play lots ..or sleep lots ..my devon is VERY active and keeps her burmese buddy busy ..but they both love it. A less active cat may not appreciate being played with ( annoyed??) so thoroughly ..
But if company is the main thing ..your dommie will NEVER be lonely with a devon ..and yes they are ahem cats with character ...lol

Hi Helen.

Welcome to Cat World flowers.gif
You DO sound as though you have already made your mind up about a Devon. If a kitten may be too active for your other baby....consider a slightly older cat.

Cheers
Coral

It doesn't matter if it's a devon. All mine are still VERY active & love heights

Really? I have GOT to check out Devons...it sounds like having a little Gremlin in the house.
