My male fixed cat Tucker is 10 years and now urinating in
bad places - most fabric ones, including pulling down a
cotton shower curtain to pee on it. I don't think it is a matter
of the litter boxes as I keep three (clean) for 2 cats.

My girl Sophie (same age) was diagnosed with diabetes in
Feb. so she was urinating a great amount. With treatment,
she is doing so much better. But as she has improved, Tucker's
problem has arisen. I had Tucker checked out at the vet
a few weeks ago and she said he is on the verge of hyper-
thyroidism which could cause some behavioral problems,
but he does not show any signs of that disease that I can
find in research. He has started on medication (hard to give)
but it seems not to improve his behavior.

Would appreciate any comments/ suggestions to keep a
happy home.

How did you clean the areas your girl peed on when she was having problems? There could be a chance that the boy is smelling her pee and thus wanting to cover it up with his own smell. Use Biozet (an enzyme washing powder) or another product such as Nature's Miracle or Urine-Free or similar to make sure all traces of the smell are gone.

Is there any chance he could have a UTI or crystals? I know you went to the vet but you didn't mention if they checked for this or not...

I would assume if it were me that your male cat is sort of confused and being aromatically-led by your girl to wee in these inappropriate place. Once they smell wee somewhere, they often will use that place again, and then it becomes a habit.
