Myself and my husband bought 2 healthy beautiful Burmese Kittens (sisters) 1 and a half years ago and they have been the most wonderful pets we could have ever imagined. They have played together, slept together, cleaned each other, loved each other and us. They are more than animals, they are like our daughters. An unimaginable thing happened about a month ago, where one of our girls suddenly changed and became aggressive and we don't know why. A very strange and unfortunate thing but we have tried drugs and separation to no avail.

We had to make the very hard decision yesterday, to put our baby girl to sleep. The hardest thing we have ever had to do. It feels like the pain in our hearts and the tears in our eyes will never go away. She gave us so much joy and happiness and was such a loyal beautiful girl. We will miss her and so will her sister. I know she is at peace now. She was a much loved pet and we will never forget her.

I'm so sorry for your loss ):

I have a question though and I hope you don't find it disrespectful; if it wasn't working out, why didn't you try and find a new home for her?

Again, I'm really sorry to hear about this and I hope you don't find my question hurtful.

Thanks. We did try to find her a home, but proved difficult sad.gif We contacted the RSPCA also, and they said she would have to pass a behavioural test, which we know she would have failed. In the end we realised that we could not give this problem to someone else.

Thanks so much guys for your kind words.
This website is great. When we first started having this prob I came on here and read a post from someone who had the exact same thing happen. I believe they are still trying 1 year later with little success. It is so heartbreaking.
In relation to our Mocha, the vet said that there may have been something wrong with her, like a brain tumor, that could explain her strange behaviour. The vet didn't really have any answers and we saw a second vet to get a second opinion (same advice given). The vet did do some tests and on the surface she was healthy, but there still could have been something wrong, which I believe there was.
If it was purely a mental thing, we could have kept increasing her dosage (human anti depressiant medication), but she would have been a complete zombie. She was only young and we didn't want her to be a zombie for the rest of her life. I wanted to be selfish and keep her at any cost, but we made the hard decision that that wouldn't be how Mocha would want to live and that her quality of life would be low. On the first dosage we had her on, she was a zombie, showed no happiness or any emotion and even had trouble walking around. That's no life. However once she got used to the meds, she started being aggressive anyway.
It is such a strange thing to happen and I still don't understand it.
Again, thanks everyone for posting.
