I'm finally getting building started on the enclosure, yaaaay, and it's going to be a bit bigger than originally planned, but that's a good thing. I wanted to have an enclosure that was exciting for the cats and invited people into it too, somewhere to sit, and one that will blend in. The guys who may be going to build it have already dubbed it the Kitty Conservatory, lol.

It has three "sections", all joined and open. The first section sits down the side of the house for the most part and is 4m long x 2.5m wide x 3m high - this area will have three walls and a roof as shelter from the rain and possibly a gravel or paved floor - I have existing pavers which I am recycling.

The next section is 4.5m long x 3.5m wide x 3m high and will have cat netting on the two external "walls" and shade cloth on the roof. One of the reasons for the shade cloth is that this part of the structure will go over an existing fernery and, down the track, there will be some sort of water feature running through also.

The third section, is approximately 6m long x 6m wide x 3m high and is cat netting all around and over the roof. This will be the grassed area and encloses a large existing fruit tree also.

The furry babes will have access from the house via a long segmented aerial tunnel.

Do you think they'll like it? I bloody well hope so, beans and toast for us humans for twelve months! LOL

looks awesome, I too am about to start building one, the guy who is going to build it is recommended by a breeder and ex hubby has him there building and painting, so if he stops keeping him busy I can build the cat cottage! I too will be using it to sit and realx, but I guess I will be sitting on the pavers!

Well, I was brought back to the real world pretty quickly when the quotes came in for my run, lol. So I had to re-plan a lot, and I have the most wonderful family as my brother is coming over to build it all for me now. Due to cost, the design has changed slightly, same spot, but just a basic rectangular shape, and the size has come down considerably in height, now to be 11m x 3.5m x 2m high - sheeesh, what was I trying to have built originally, the Taj Mahal, lol.

Anyway, the netting etc is here, the timber is delivered on Thursday, I am half-way through clearing the area and levelling out and my dear brother is arriving Mid Feb to build the kitty castle. Phew, it all might actually happen this time, ROFL. Stay tuned......

It's always the cost, isn't it? Look forward to seeing it though.

That is going to be absolutely fabulous. I am sure the cats will love you for it and they will live much happier lives as well. Congrats.
