One of my beautiful baby ducks passed away this morning. They were both fine when I put them to bed last night - I gave them each a kiss and put them in their box. This morning, one of them wouldn't move. I rushed to the vet but he died on the way. RIP my gorgeous baby. I am so sorry I couldn't do more. I hope you are back with your brothers, sisters, mummy and daddy. I miss you. xoxoxo

Cherie, I took his sibling to a wildlife carer. Its not good to raise them on their own because they become too tame. This lady has a few other Wood Ducks that are a similar age so they will grow up together. I know it was the right thing to do, but I cried all the way home. She was so nice though and said I can come and help her when she releases them.

So sorry Kirsten.

I had a duckling when I was 8 years old called Daffy. She was my best friend for 4 years back then.

She even thought she was a cat, as she lived with our cat at the time.

RIP little one.

Kirsten
i am glad that the other little one is being cared for and with other wood ducks, and yes it was the right thing, and your allowed to be sad as you were his mum and carer but he will grow and be quacking away and making lots of noise before you know it and to see him/her grow and be released will be wonderful. HUGS TO YOU
Cherie

Hugs Kirty, so sorry to hear the sad news.

RIP little duckling

You've done the right thing with the sibbling. Once we raised one bird at home after her sibbling died and she became too tame - but we did not know better. It will be better for the little one to grow surrounded by all the other ducklings. Hugs bearhug.sml
