Poor Muffin it will be hard but there are things you can try to help. Firstly there are a couple of things commonly used to help calm and destress felines and you could start using them now: a drop or two of rescue remedy behind the ears and a couple of drops in her water dish too or you could try a feliway diffuser (it's a synthetic version of happy cat phermones). You could plug one in now and continue using it in your new home. When you move, try to have a room set up with Muffin's things before you move Muffin in so that at least one room has familiar scents. Depending on how Muffin is coping and her nature you might like to keep her confined to this safe room till a little more is settled around the house and then let her slowly check out the other areas. You might want to close off some of the other rooms and introduce them to her as she copes with the new spaces.

Cats I'm sure can sense our feelings and no doubt Muffin will be very concerned about you too smile.gif Some treats and lots of cuddles and an upbeat voice when talking to her might help reassure her that you're okay. I'd keep a close eye on her eating and toileting habits etc where changes can indicate she's not coping. In particular going off her food and not eating would be a real concern and she be acted on promptly. If you're moving areas and it won't be easy to go to the same vet you might want to ask for referrals for ones in your new area and perhaps have Muffin's records from her previous vet transferred over if there are any of significance.

Don't forget to update Muffin's microchip details too.

Best of luck for what will no doubt be a hard time for all of you.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that.

I guess the main things are trying to be there more than usual for Muffin...extra cuddles and snuggles and pats and just being around and accessible more to her...and yeah, using a light, happy (if you can) voice are good and reassuring...

If you usually don't sleep with her in the room, maybe try this to comfort her more so she's not alone overnight.

She will adjust, both to her new home and having no daddy around, so try not to worry too much...

update.

I am now moving back into my mums place as i cant find a suitable house for us and we would really like to get out of the house we are in now.
im sure muffin will love mums place, heaps more room and hiding spots and lots of windows for sunbaking.
only issue may be mums pets - lucy the golden lab and tigger the cat. both are much older than muffin and not quite as playful.

although - tigger was also hit by a car at the same age as muffin, and had the same back leg amputated. so muff will just think its the norm to have 3 legs!

I think they'll be fine. Hopefully they'll become really good friends. I keep picturing your kitty snuggling up against the labrador's fur. lol
