Hi Everyone! Ive been lurking in here for awhile reading everyones advice and thoughts on other topics but i just couldnt find much help with this one :S

Yesterday I got a 12 week year old british short hair who is beautiful and perfect in everyway. He settled in very fast and last night when it was bedtime even jumped up on the bed when he figured that where we were and snuggled down with us and fell asleep on the bedside table.

untill...

5am

when he decided it was time to wake up and talk to us...

i know nothing was wrong because whilst he was talking he was purring and walking around, but i still tried to put him in his litter, some food or water. but he wasnt interested. tried playing with him. but nothing would make him be quiet.

is this normal? does anyone have any tips to quieting them down at night time? we live in flats and im just worried that he will wake the girl above us as her bedroom is directly above ours (unfortunatly she doesnt extend this same consideration with her nightly bussiness wink_3.gif )

I got so frustrated by 6:30 i locked him in the bathroom...with everything he needed of course and a fan and he still talked for about half an hour before going to sleep. but i felt really cruel doing this.

thanks for any help

edited to add this photo, how i found him this morning...still purring...enough to make me very quickly forget my lack of sleep

Aww what a cutie ...he's only just left his mum and siblings so he's just looking for company ..I'd just talk back to him ..grin ..and maybe leave a radio on for him( and to cover his chat) ..make him a nest with a furry toy to cuddle up to at bedtime..
This all sounds very normal...
I love he woke up and wanted YOU to talk to him!

What a little sugar bear. Could he have been hungry? He might have been missing his siblings. I had a new owner ring me as the little girl they had was crying a lot the first two days but she was from a big litter and ifelt she was calling to them. She settled after two or three days and now loves being a spoilt only cat.

Thanks for the replies. I do talk back to him but that seems to make him want to talk more. My mum did suggest the radio as well so we will give it ago tonight if he is still having problems. I thought it would be fairly normal, its just so hard to watch their little faces and know they miss there mums and brother and sisters

i guess we will just have to wait it out and see how he goes
