Bobby just did something really odd. He was stretched out on the couch, and had just finished grooming my hubby's head (too cute) and hubby got up and Bob went into a state of slumber (well we think so), and all of a sudden we heard a commotion and Bobby was doing these strange sideways flips on the couch one after the other after the other, and also like they do when they are darting playing chasey (changing direction). I called his name frantically and got louder as I called but no change I ran over and grabbed him and held him close and gently talked to him and kissed him his body seemed normal, claws were extended limbs were like they floppy. He seemed to snuggle in normally, hubby thought he was chasing a bug, but I'm not certain. He passed wind while this was happening and Diesel came running too, as he probably picked up on my panicked tone. Hubby looked at his eyes and they were normal looking, he didn't out of it at all, hubby didn't realise I thought there was something actually wrong with Bob. I have been watching Bob like a hawk since we came back from our trip (two days away), as he seemed to have lost condition and weight and had the runs…. He is better now after the trip away and is eating very well and gaining weight. He has now come back from laundry and had something more to eat and a play with Diesel, he seems to be walking fine, I shall ring vet in morning and get him a check up but does anyone have any ideas what could have happened. Seizure maybe? Why would that happen? He is only 13 months old? My heart has stopped racing for the moment…..

You know your cat best and if you think he was behaving oddly, I would suggest that you get him checked out by a vet. Hopefully it's nothing serious but it is worrying when you are not sure what is wrong!

I would certainly speak to your vet. As Lara says you know your cat best & if you think something wasn't right it best to check,

It could have been a seizure. I would get him examined by the vet to be on the safe side.

He has been fine since and not doing anything out of the ordinary, being a snuggle bunny, I think the thing that concerns me the most is that I called his name a few times getting louder and louder and I had to physically grab him to stop him rolling, its like he was in a dream state and my touch stopped him, but his legs were still mid motion, frightened me no end, I kept one eye open most of the night, thinking that he may actually not make it through the night (me being a worry wort I guess), after having to say goodbye to two furry loved ones already this year, I immediately panicked and thought the worse of Bobby, I couldn't bare it, he is my baby he stole my heart as soon as I seen photos... The vet is booked up today but I will be going up at lunchtime in the hope that he can be seen today.

Some catmagic3.gif catmagic3.gif catmagic3.gif just in case. Maybe Bobby was just dreaming and twitching a lot more than most normally do. I hope so. I hope the vet can see you today too. Hugs.

Sounds scary!

One of my fosters had a funny turn once with a wobbly walk and total personality change (shame it didnt stick lol!). It didnt last too long but it frightened the crap out of me. Took her to the vet for observations but nothing happened and nothing has since. The vet said to video it if it happened again so they could make a better assessment.

Good luck, I hope Bobby is ok. catmagic3.gif

Am finally back from the vet, 45 min wait even with an appointment, things are going stir crazy over there, I felt terrible taking the boys out in this heat (took Diesel to get wormed as he is hard to worm), I started the car and let it cool down first they went straight into the carrier for me, (I don't think that will happen again). She checked Bobby over and there were no other signs of problems, she said if it happens again within the month, come back and they will start medication, she is thinking perhaps epilepsy, uncommon but not unheard of, she also said that it may not happen again, it could have been brought on by the heat, we are all hoping its just a one off thing, she said the fit would have started in the balance centre for him to go into a roll, im still not certain he wasn't in a dream state as when we looked at his eyes they weren't out of it, but for him not to respond to me calling makes us think that he was in an altered state. About his weight he isn't underweight (just a supermodel in her words), she makes me giggle such a fantastic vet and has always been so reassuring. And Diesel the cheeky fella I put him on table 5 secs later wormed successfully grrr, she said they go into a hypnotic state on the stainless steel, so am happy still watch him and hoping that it all improves, we are going to try and bath him tonight in the hope that it helps with the moulting so he can be more comfortable.

I am happy that Bobby checked out OK. They really can scare the heart out of us. I had to smile when I read you slept with one eye on him. Been there done that! Hope all continues going well!
