My Leo has this illness. I have finally brought him to a specialist and maybe, just MAYBE there might be a solution...will see. just starting treatment, it can take up to 6-8 weeks to know for sure. I am at wits end, exhausted, first it was my Cassie was sick( not with same thing) now I have her on track, now it's Leo though this has been going on for a long time. he also has a urinary tract infection. giving him med after med... I have a med and new food for him, I have to start the med 2 days before I start him on the food, since it could make him sick(oh boy!) and the vet said we need to know which makes him sick. he is on royal canin rabbit and peas food. the med is cyclo--something. sorry I am not home I will post the med's name this week.

does anyone on here have a cat with this condition?
Please post or pm me if you know aything about this illness or have a cat wiht it. thanks!

My cat was diagnosed with this earlier in the year. She had a "ulcer" on the roof of her mouth. She was put on Ovarid for about 6 weeks and so far, it seems to have cleared up. I believe it is something that can happen again at any time though. Where is your cat's lesion?

My cat Caitlin who has suffered from EGC in ranges of serverity for about 5 years now has recently been put on Cyclosporin. She has been on it for about 2 weeks now and her skin had drastically improved, her open wounds are healing and although there will be significant scarring all is looking great.

It is not cheap though at about $180 for 1 month supply, but it is something that when it starts to really work the dose is lowered until ideally 1 capsule a week to keep it at bay.

yes cyclosporin, I believe that is the med that my Leo is on. it cost $100. for a bottle that will last about a month , giving it to him once daily, then laater if it works it will be every other day so the cost will be half.

capsules? my cats med is a liquid, but like yours, it will be given once or twice a week once it works, to maintain the illness.

QUOTE (kirty @ Nov 18 2009, 08:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Where is your cat's lesion?

his are mostly on his tongue, but he has got them near his eyes, a couple on his ears, in his nose, and though I don't see anything, he keeps chewing on his feet... I have never heard of ovarid, does it work pretty good?
