I'm afraid that Jack is absolutely furious with me - lots of hisses and paw swipes and dark looks. He's ringing around airlines to find the cheapest fare back to Frankston.*Sigh*

It all started earlier this morning when I noticed that Cromwell, LJG and Jack showed no inclination at all to go outside to their enclosures, even though it is a gorgeous day. Instead they were having heaps of fun darting about the house, spending some quality time in the kitchen, and generally enjoying life immensely.

It was only just now I discovered why.

Jack Cade had caught a silver-eyed native finch and stored it in the pots and pan cupboard (where he stores all his treasures). Every now and then he'd haul it out to show off to the other two (but woudn't allow them near it).

Then finally Mother discovered what he was doing and divested him of finch and, horror of horrors, took it outside and let it go. Jack was furious with me. Many hisses and dark looks. I'm afraid I had only two words of caution to him: BIRD FLU (which he tossed his head at).

Oh look, there's the taxi to the airport now. Jack should be home by afternoon, Heather. wink_3.gif

I, on the other hand, suppose I'd better clean out the pots and pan cupboard. Not the way I'd planned on spending my Saturday.

In the pots and pans cupboard? Perhaps he was thinking of lunchtime suggestions. wink_3.gif

Minki and Mugsy had a bird cornered inside a few days ago, one of the few times they have spent time together without Minki hissing and Mugsy swiping. Luckily OH rescued the prisoner before any harm was done.

Sara you are a meanie....Jack I will personally load up the bird feeding table so there are plenty on hand for you to grab when they come snacking...your mum just does not appreciate your prowess.....did she appreciate that you did not kill it......Noooo.....did she appreciate that you had it there for all to share....Noooooo.......never mind lad - I will happily reimburse you your air fare.

PS That's a boy chip off the family tree - Satin and Mickey are the BEST of Bird catchers given half a chance....

LOL. Poor Jack. I'm sure he was so proud. Do I assume that they have now gone outside to enjoy the day? At least Mummy Heather appreciates what a fine animal you used to have Sara.

Oh Sara, So pleased you were able to rescue the poor bird clapping.gif clapping.gif

Jack must have been so proud....and you just spoiled his fun. Ours just stick to moths.....Thumps is a great moth catcher. Willow, on the other hand....being able to be outside.....loves to chase little skinks and we have to rescue them....before she eats them. She is a good mouse catcher too. LOL

Cheers
Jenny

Jack, Jack - what a naughty boy - but understandable. You must learn not to catch other creatures.

Naughty Jack! I think I would freak if I found a bird in my pots and pan cupboard!

Heather have you got the spare room all set up for your visitor?

Helene, I agree that Sara may well have got a rather large fright if the bird flew out of the cupboard. I think the whisky may have needed an airing! Don't you just love it when the cats make YOU clean out the cupboard just when you were not planning such a task. Happy washing!

I think Jack missed the plane - there was no sign of him even that I had all the birdies lined up for him.

Jack decided to stay after all when a veyr large and raucous parrot landed on the branch just above the enclosure and he decided ot owuld be real fun to try and catch one of those and try to store _that_ in the pots and pans cupboard.

Poor Jack, just a bit confused about what birds are pests.

Sara you need to read today's Sunday Herald Sun, there is an article about what birds are causing trouble. Jack could have a whole list to choose from.
