Our cat escaped and was chased into the woods by our new lab, I heard a meow in the AM, and when I went out to call him, my female cat ran out! They have been gone 4 nights. Each one was seen by a different neighbor 2 days ago. I call them, search the woods and back streets , I have put out food. Should I give up?

In the past, they have escaped for about 2 nights tops.

Where is your new dog?? You might need to have it stay with friends for a few nights so the cats feel safe to come home...

You can never give up. You just need to keep looking and asking everyone.

Hope they come back. Good luck.

We've got many great cat-return stories here - never give up and maybe get a fishermans net and put out lots of food!

Please do not give up. I agree that you should lock up your dog for a few days. The cats are scared. If you call them of a night time ----- rattle some biscuits in a container----- leave some sardines or something they really like to eat out of a night time, maybe borrow a cage and catch them. Are they indoor cats or outdoor?.

Good luck with finding them

Rhonda

Don't give up but I agree you might have to lose the dog for a few days in order to give them the confidence to come back....Good Luck.....it is early days yet but they are probably fearful of the dog.

Please don't give up! Yes, certainly try to keep the dog away for a few nights. Keep going out and calling and rattling the biccie bag! Plenty of flyers and letter-box drops. Notify all the local vets, shelters, etc. Talk to your neighbours. Fingers crossed that they come home or are found soon! (My girl was missing for over six weeks and, thank God, I got her back!) You have to keep plugging away and, hopefully, you'll get a good outcome too!

I just realized the OP posted the cats missing in Sept. 2007. I'm sorry I didn't see the date so long ago. Hope your kitties came home. I don't see any updates from 8 months ago.

also if you put a kenel out front....more for people to see and if they find a stray cat they will see you have a kenel out like a sign you are looking for a cat. (this worked perfect for a friend that had a missing cat for almost a full week) also animal control because a lot of people will call animal control...and you want to contact them becuase they will put your cats to sleep with in about 3 days if not claimed or taken in by a shelter. So CONTACT them ASAP.
