I know this isn't suggested, but I'm in need of some antibiotics for my cat. Does anyone know of a reliable source where I can get some without a prescription? I have two cats (one a diabetic) and I'm in a financial crunch right now.

Prescription drugs are available by prescription only for good reasons:
A qualified doctor/veterinarian needs to examine the patient and decide what drug is required, taking into consideration the patient's other medical conditions, allergies, bodyweight, any other medications being used and previous response to drugs. Also, the professional needs to have an understanding of pharmacology (how drugs work and are metabolised in the body) and drug interactions (how drugs interact with each other when taken simultaneously).

Veterinarians are in a unique position of being allowed to prescribe AND dispense drugs to their patients - vets are very careful not to abuse this position of responsibility.

Please consider other financial options to have your cat examined so that the correct treatment can be given.

I would also advise very strongly not to try and prescribe yourself, nor under any circumstances to give your cat human antibiotics if you get your hands on any. Seeing the vet is the only way to go.
