Hi everyone,,,,

I'm moving to Montreal, Canada at the end of February. It's my first time going to Canada.
I was wondering if anyone can help me get some information about how to take good care of my pet there.. I want to know how can i protect her from the cold weather, what are the places that i'm able to take her to, can i take her with me during my internal journey in Canada,,, and a lot more information..

it will be my pleasure to hear from you guys smile.gif

Thanks a lot

Hi and welcome to the forums. Will you be visiting? Or are you immigrating to the country? In either case you will have to research what are the regulations and pre-requisites in order to bring your cat (?) with you. As far as the weather goes, if it is an indoor pet, there will be no issues and the cold will not have any effect. It would be wise to consult with your vet before leaving your country of origin, and request from him/her information and advice. Good luck with your relocation.

welcat.gif to cw. Good luck on your move. I'd imagine you'd need vaccinations done, is quarantine involved? Good luck on your move.

Hiii ,,,

sorry for replying a little late... My family and I are actually moving to Montreal to study there,, and we'll be applying for the migration as soon as we arrive there..

I started searching for all the regualtions that are related to pets in Montreal ,, and i also wanted to know what do people usually do to their pets there,, i mean do they usually take their pets "cats" for a walk ,, or are there a lot of public places that i can take my cat to ??

thanx everyone

Maybe ask your vet what special requirements might be needed in relation to cats and colder weather climates.

Is it possible for you to search the phone book or internet and locate some vets in the area your moving too. Give them a call on the phone and ask some questions before your move.

Wishing you all the best. I hope everything works out well for you and your pets smile.gif

KoKo, I think what Kicol was getting at was that you may not be allowed across the border with your cat unless you and your cat have fulfilled all canadian quarantine regulations. I have no idea what these are but you must find out before leaving. There may be none, there may be heaps. But you must find out before you leave.

You are right Sara, it has to be sorted out beforehand, otherwise Koko might risk having his family pet removed at the border. Not much benefit in ignoring the border laws.

Koko, you will need to find out about pet regulations at the Canadian Consulate where I'm sure you'll know some people already as you said you are going to Montreal on a student visa. Just ask them to give you all the details well in advance of the date of your trip.

You may need months to prepare with vaccinations - find out about quarantine now.
