I'm thinking it's the day that government hands out or takes with the new range of cost keeping measures ..pensions for politicians go up ..taxes for ordinary workers go up ..etc..

The Budget is the government's annual announcement of how it intends to raise money for government spending. It involves a prediction of the economic growth, a review of the taxes including income tax, vehicle excise duty, fuel duty, family benefits etc & announcements on how much the government is pledging to spend on public services.

Duty is also normally increased on tobacco & alcohol which is always a big talking point.

For fear of boring you further, I'll shut up smile.gif, but if you're really interested, link attached giving more details

Oh duh! It just clicked!

I was thinking that there was a special day called "Budget Day" - somewhere along the lines of Queens Birthday or Labour Day.
Now I realise that it's the day that the government announces their financial plans etc.
