Kitten Dreams- A Special Poem

I thought you'd like to read the poem my son wrote in memory of the 2 little brown kittens;
Kitten Dreams
A kitten's body lay under the ground.
He wouldn't be forgotten
but never found.
He didn't like to be this way.
He shut his eyes and dreamed back.
Back to when he was being buried.
His owners cuddled him and
said their last goodbye.
He was sad to be this way.
He shut his eyes and dreamed back.
Back to when he was near the end.
When the flat-chested illness
was taking its toll.
He was pained to be this way.
He shut his eyes and dreamed back.
Back to when his brothers and sisters
knew he was weak,
And bullied him out of the way.
He didn't like to be this way.
He shut his eyes and dreamed back.
Back to when he was suckling his mother,
Snuggling in her warm fur,
And being cuddled by his owner.
Back when nothing was wrong.
He liked to be this way.
He shut his eyes and tried to stay there,
While he waited for Rainbow Bridge to call for him.
He leapt over the ridge
And bounded towards The Rainbow Bridge
He couldn't cross yet but he didn't care.
He waited for the one who loved him to be there.
He was contented.
He would lie in the sun
Play with the other cats,
And frolic in the meadow
until his owner came for him.
They would rejoice,
Walk towards The Rainbow Bridge
and cross to the place of dreams.....

Hi Raffles, my son is 12 & he wrote this poem for his English homework. He was so moved by the 2 little brown kittens from Mocha's aunty's litter who died at 2 weeks old because they had flat chests, and the story of Chester Chance (see my thread in Kitten Chat if you haven't read this) that he wanted to write about them in his poem. I too think it's beautiful and had to hold back the tears when I read it. Thanks for your kind comments.

Oh Rachel, so beautifully written from the heart. He must have a very gentle nature. Well done J.
I hope his English teacher was moved by the poem also.

to the two little kittens who are now at rainbow Bridge, free of pain.

Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing with us. Your son must be a wonderful young man, please tell him thankyou from me, I'm still crying.
I visit another forum for dogs, but most are all round animal lovers, and quite a few have cats so I was wondering if I could post the poem there.

Hi Caramel, please feel free to post the poem on your forum. I'm glad you liked it, I'll certainly pass on your comments to my son. Do you have a link to the dog forum as I'm sure he'll like to see it on there.
