One of my cats likes to stand up and wee and as a result wees out of the litter tray, I started to use the hooded trays but found that because he stands, the wee gets caught in the joins ( where the lid and tray join) I now use a recycle crete, OH cuts a hole for them to go in and it works great.
I got mine from the wearhouse for $7.99.

That's a good idea, we use the big 60lt crates from reject shop, brilliant and big enough for them all.

I use various high sided storage crates and boxes for litter trays...much less messy. Some of mine are really big ones from Bunnings and others are of various smaller sizes, but still with high sides. I recommend these to kitten buyers as well, as they tend to think of litter trays just being the standard ones they see in pet shops and supermarkets. The storage crates are very well priced too. I get some of the smaller ones in the $2 type shops, along with the big round washing up type bowls that I use for kitten pen beds (I get a couple of different, large sizes of these, the type that people stand in to collect water when showering).
