No offence intended to any of our NZ folk, but I heard on the radio that you can sing your National Anthem to the words of "Twinkle twinkle little star", and I have been singing it to myself for the last two days now... whistle.gif I love the actual melody, but didn't know the words, and now that I know some words that fit the melody, I can't stop! Does anyone know how to stop that blasted song from going round and round and round in my head? rolleyes.gif

Brittany Spears is good for getting almost any song out of your head (however you are then left with Brittany Spears in your head wink_3.gif )

Really? Cos it doesn't sound anything like the twinkle twinkle little star tune I know?

Anyone know how to get part of the AUSTRALIAN national anthem out of your head?
I can only remember one line of it and the tune and it keeps playing over and over!

It's so irritating having only partial songs in my head.

"Somewhere over the rainbow" usually does the trick for me. At least I know all the words to that one!

Hehehe, you sing the words of "Twinkle twinkle little star" to the melody of the NZ national anthem, the words fit perfectly, but you have to sing the words twice for one verse of the music.

I thought the National Anthem of NZ was God Save the Queen!! When did they change?

Must've been before I was born at least!! Only version I've ever known is 'God of Nations', which I thought was written about 100+ years ago. But well, I'm not a huge patriot, so don't ask me!

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if some KIWIs actually DO think that's our real anthem... it's certainly better known, in my travel experience, than the national anthem itself.
Nothing would surprise me!

Ha! I bet none of you could quote what the RUssian Federation national anthem is

No takers???? None??????

Well, back in 2000 Mr Putin in his wisdom decided we would retain the SOVIET anthem minus the words ... so NOW it is easy to sing the national anthem here..all youhave to do is HUMMMMMMM along smiley_lol.gif drunk.gif
