Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd get some advice. I'm going away for two weeks over Christmas and New Years (to melbourne from Newcastle) and have a few options for my new cat.

a) Either I can take him with me (two non-stop 8 hour stints)
b) I can leave him in my apartment and have a friend feed him in the evenings (he'd be alone the rest of the time)
c) I can try and find affordable accomodation, maybe with Deb in peakhurst where I got hte cat from depending on her prices (this would mean moving my poor cat AGAIN just as he settles in)

Best option?

I'm leaning towards having a friend feed him as he pretty much sleeps all day and night anyway... i just wanted to see what everyone else thinks smile.gif

Yeah I would say the friend option.

I usually did that when I only had the 1 cat.

I am not so sure. It seems the easiest and simplest. A friend who is also a breeder said to me once, that cats left on their own while their owners are away, stress more than in a cattery.

We left our cat (when we had one) alone and went away, my eldest dd who Floyd knew well and loved came in every day to feed him and play with him. Floyd is not a really friendly cat who needs us at all. Yet, he fretted, hardly ate and lost a ton of weight.
He was all over my dd when she came and wanted more hugs than he's ever had in his life!
When we came back from our holiday, we were shocked at the sight of him.

If you have a friend who is still living at home, but might like a holiday away and can move into your place, that might be ideal. Of course said friend must be a cat lover. smile.gif

No easy solutions I am sorry, all the best with making your decision.
