Last night on UKtv's "How clean is my house" they wiped the walls down with a baking soda and citronella mix ..apparently spiders taste with their feet and hate the taste of citronella ..so it doesn't kill them ..just moves them on ..Too easy!!
I'm guessing if you had a large area to cover a spray version would work as well.

I use lemon oil on my cobweb broom, that seems to work for awhile as well.

When I was buying it from a market stall the bloke told me that Buddhists use it because it doesn't kill the spiders they just don't go where it is. And it smells nice too!

I'm glad you did... it seems a never-ending task to keep spiders and spider webs away under our veranda. Will give these ideas a try for sure... thanks!

I saw that last night too. I love watching those girls in action - they always make everything look so easy and usually use common household items in the processes (vinegar, salt, bio washing powder, etc) - makes for an environmentally friendly and clean house without all the costly chemical solutions.

I particularly liked the idea last night of using off milk as a copper cleaner. The smellier the better, apparently.

Thanks for posting this, I've been wondering what to do about our spiders when we (eventually) finish cat proofing the yard. I don't want to kill them, but at the same time I don't want them to kill my cats!
