I know so many of us rely on these heroic people who put their lives at risk to help others, but rarely ever seem to receive enough credit for their efforts.

This has surely been shown in the past 24 hours or so in the Victoria fires.

So can I just add my thanks to every one of them. You are real heroes and show the true Aussie spirit!

They are the ONLY heroes. Sportsmen and women just do not make hero status to me. These guys (and girls) who put their life ont he line EVERY summer, and indeed all the year if required, are rubies beyond price. We are very very lucky to have them.

I thank them, and thank the SES and CFA, without them it would have been so much worst.

Dave and I also made the decision to join CFA, I can't fight due to hearing disability but I can volunteer time for admin duties etc. It's obvious that the CFA helped so much, the more people they have the better.

when the chips are down and the odds against people the SES volunteers meet the challenge ...be it flood, fire or other natural disasters ... they come and try their best to save lives and get people to safety

HEAR HEAR for the SES

These people are truly amazing, the CFA have done an outstanding job in horrendous conditions. The majority of these are volunteers.
And I'd like to thank all those firies from interstate who are in Victoria at the moment to boost the ranks.
May they stay safe

I'm especially thinking of Louise's DH Pete who has gone off to fight the fires in Victoria, and to all those who despite losing their own home continue to fight for others. The Aussie Spirit is just amazing. And the strength of the people who have lost everything except their family, who stand there being interviewed, being asked how devastated they are to have lost everything, who shed a tear for a moment and then stand tall and say that they still have their family, and they are a lot better off than so many others, and they will continue on. Their strength and pride in such heart-wrenching circumstances is such an inspiration.

I have great respect for all who are part of our CFS,SES,CFA
My business has donated for years to such organizations,
A colleague/mate that i used to work with (Kym) is going over to Vic to help out,

Well said Doreen.

And when you remember that some of these volunteers or officers also lose their lives in these battles, fighting for other people's homes and lives, you realise they are truly amazing and special people. "Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough, but it's all I can offer from the bottom of my heart.

They truly are heroic and noble people. I think it's a shame that they can lose money while peerforming this vital community serrvice. Surely they deserve a tax break or something while they're volunteering?

thanks Doreen,

Pete is in Dedarang ?? (near Myrtleford ??) -

and he says the danger is not over yet.

he just cannot believe what he is seeing with his own eyes,

he likens it to something from a horror movie,

like a holocaust no.gif no.gif
