For information of all who have had cats & kittens exposed to this terrible heat and or the fires & smoke, please watch for delayed reactions to this trauma. Dehydration, stress, smoke inhalation, confusion and lack of appetite are normal in these situations. Please be aware of any changes in behaviour, lethargy, abnormal appetites and bowel movements.
Give fluids, some may need Vet treatments, give small bland meals with added water or liquids, Rescue Remedy and Nutridrops are also of great benefit.

Vicki are there any vets on the board who can give a quick overview on field dressings for (non-life-threatening) burns for pet animals that people may find as they venture out? Such animals need veterinary attention, of course, but resources will be limited so it may help for folks to know what to do. Maybe post it in Cat Chat so guests can find it?
