I'm Totally Gobsmacked - At The Kindness Of People

As some of you know I'm a member of Simple Savings as well. I chat on there a bit, but not that much.
After I got home from the school run, there was an email in my inbox from a SS staff member asking if I was ok, because they know I live in Narre Warren and have seen the news footage of the fires. They started a thread asking if I was ok.
I'm totally in awe of the kindness of people who in reality don't know me. Its just so touching, I had to tell someone.
One thing I will say about Aussies, when there is a crisis we do stick together, and thank God for that.

That's awesome!
Last night I noticed a missed call on my mobile from a private number. I wondered who it was then forgot about it. This morning I got to work and found out that the management team had been in the office yesterday afternoon, calling all the staff (around 300) to make sure everyone was OK. Those that they couldn't get hold of, they kept trying today...some had RDO's and some are on leave....and they didn't stop until everyone was accounted for and they could then report that the entire team were safe.
I think that's pretty awesome, especially as I work for a govt department everyone loves to hate.
