Australia has a rather large online crafting community which I am proud to be a member of. Many crafters (both those who do it professionally and those who do it for fun) are helping to raise money for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal in their own crafty way. I thought I would post about it here as I know we have many crafty Cat-World members as well as those who may simply be interested in other ways to help

There is an auction being run here by the designers behind "Melly & Me" for handmade toys and also custom made items from their designs with 100% of the proceeds going to the appeal

A blog called Handmade Help (found here) has been set up which is listing handmade items being auctioned on ebay or Etsy with proceeds going to the appeal also

And the lovely designer from Wildcraft farm is selling stitchery patterns and kits here with 100% of the proceeds going to the CFA

There is also a lovely handmade Russian doll (softie) for auction here at One Red Robin

What a great idea Nay.

I've started knitting "trauma teddies", although I haven't heard back from the Red Cross yet as to who I can donate them to. I will just continue knitting them this week and next week I will ring and see if they are happy to accept my donation. Otherwise possibly the CFA will be able to distribute them where they are needed. I know someone who is involved in the CFA so they might be able to send me in the right direction.

My goal is to knit 50 of them. These are soft toys which are given to children in times of need.

your trauma teddies are a wonderful idea flowers.gif

I know that the Toy Society (website here) is collecting handmade toys to distribute to children affected by the fires - they might be able to let you know where they are sending them to?

Thanks Nay, I'll do a few first, then see about who to donate them to. I'm sure one of the organisations would be able to forward them onto children who need them.

This is the pattern I'll try tonight. I want something simple, so its easy to do quite a few.
