I have just driven into work and heard an interview with the Director of the Red Cross Blood bank about the some 14,000 Victorians that rushed to donate blood have been issued with Parking Tickets! A usual number of Blood donors on any given day is around 40... Queues were enormous but people stayed and gave their blood to help those that were so horribly injured. Police stepped in and basically told the Parking Officers to take a hike but many had already been issued with tickets.
There is naturally an uproar and I am sure that no one will have to pay these tickets but the point of it all is what on earth were those Parking Officers thinking????

They will need it in Vic for a while as the people with burns will need ongoing blood products. I dont think they send blood from state to state but we always need it here in WA. I dont think any state ever has too much blood. There may be blood products that are made from donations here that may go to Vic though. Not sure.
