Our suburb lost 6 houses last Saturday in the heartbreaking bushfires. Today when I went to the local supermarket there are signs up everywhere, the local business' have pulled together and are putting a fete/fund raising day on this Saturday, just 7 days after the horrific event.

I'm going to volunteer my services and help in anyway I can. This fundraiser is to help the locals who lost everything. I'm just beaming with pride, that we are able to stick together even under difficult circumstances.

While at the gym I spoke to a lady who lives in the street where the houses were lost. She told me it took 1 1/2 hours before the fire fighters arrived on scene, due to the extreme workload. She in no way blamed the firies, who could. They risked their lives to save everyone elses. They actually evacuated their house, to flee the fire. Who would have thought.

The worst part about everything here is that the police believe these fires were deliberately lit. I hope they catch the morons.

It is so heart-warming Michelle. Every single staff member here has made donations, my daughter's boyfriend's sports team are arranging fund raising nights, everywhere you go you hear of people wanting to help. At lunch time I listened to the radio where people were offering their services - truckies and removalists, one company offered 1000 Polo shirts for distribution, builders are offering to help out, most of the time it leaves me in happy tears to hear of how generous people are when their fellow Aussies are in need.
