Anyone attending the Melbourne Expo this weekend please note: GCCFV will have a truck there each day to collect donations of goods for transport to the RSPCA/Victorian Animal Aid Trust/Cat Protection Society to aid animals displaced by the fires.
In addition, GCCFV is compiling a list of members prepared to offer housing for homeless cats for an indefinite period. If you are able to house refugee cats, please contact the GCCFV Secretary.
GCCFV urges its members, and all concerned animal lovers, to direct donations of both goods and money directly to those organisations charged with the front–line relief effort for fire-affected pets and wildlife. (RSPCA, Victorian Animal Aid Trust and the Cat Protection Society are active in the field.)
There are also Relief Centres at Healesville and Yarra Glen that will take feline goods: phone numbers 59626570 and 96396515 respectively. They are open for 12 hours daily (8 am until 8 pm). To register accommodation available for displaced cats, visit the Yarra Ranges website at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au
At this time, all members of GCCFV are safe.
