I received a beautiful email from a friend in the UK, it was about Bruno Torfs ... See below, writing in purple.. (There is NO attachment, sorry). I viewed the attachment and am very sad for the loss. I guess if you google his name hopefully his unique forest can be seen.

Is this true that he lost everything, is Bruno okay? Click here to see it

Joan.

Yes it is confirmed. Taken from his website
Important MessageOn Saturday the 7th of February 2009 The Township of Marysville and the surrounding area was ravaged by bushfires and is still in a state of emergency. Firstly I would like to say that Bruno and his family are safe and well.
Unfortunately the family home and the gallery have been destroyed. The sculpture garden has sustained severe damage, but hopefully a good portion of the sculptures will be able to be salvaged.

Bruno and the family intend to try and rebuild the sculpture garden and gallery in the near future and will provide updates on this website as regularly as possible.
For any offers of support and general well wishing, please don’t hesitate to temporarily contact us on:
andrewkade @gmail.com

Also a mailing list will be set up soon, to provide updates on the rebirth of Bruno’s art and Sculpture garden. If you wish to be included in this, please let us know on the email address listed above.

For family and friends needing to make urgent contact with Bruno and Marleen, please call Andrew and Iris on 03 9770 1409

I would like to sign off by saying that Bruno and the family may have lost many priceless treasures over the last few days, but it is the lost lives of our friends and neighbours that has left the biggest hole in our hearts.

Kind regards,

Andrew Kade
Bruno’s son in Law

I am sending you the attachment to one of the world's most unique and deeply inspiring experiences for art and garden lovers of all ages created by Bruno Torfs at Marysville Victoria.
On Saturday February 7th, the raging fires in Victoria completely destroyed his unique forest creation taking over 300 paintings and sculptures. As you take a walk through the forest on the attachment herein, please take a moment to reflect on the beauty gone and the many people who have lost their homes, their loved ones, their livelihoods, the severely injured, the animal life and the dedicated firefighters, police, civilians, and those involved in caring for the traumatized and injured. Thank you.

Those sculptures were just amazing, what a great loss to the community. At least the family is safe, thats the most important thing.

How sad, it was a beautiful garden. Glad Bruno and his family are safe though.

Ross and I planned to go there early last year and something came up the weekend we planned to go... I can't even remember what it was.

I am so glad to hear he and his family are OK. A friend sent me lots of pictures of his sculptures, and I was really saddened to hear that so many of them were damaged.
