Matilda picked up fleas at the vet two weeks ago.

For some reason they didn't think it was a good idea to tell me until I noticed them on her!

She had been recently treated with revolution so we retreated her and her brother and vacuumed and washed everything and shut the cats out of the bedrooms and lounge.

I was initiatlly inclined to treat the house as well by getting in a professional pest controller, then freaked about exposure to chemicals, but having talked to Mothersafe this afternoon I want to get it done again when we go away for four days this weekend.

Girls, can you please recommend me someone in Sydney as seriously I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown about it all and just can't pick someone out of the yellow pages.

sorry I cant help on the Sydney scene. I hope your treatment with revolution was quite a few weeks apart, not condemning or anything .......... just that I read a thread in here recently where a guy brought in his cat to a vet practise with neuro toxin poisoning because the guy had treated the cat with one of these flea treatments and because it didn't have an effect immediately repeated the dose and the cat became seriously affected by the double dose.

It sounds like you have already taken pretty proficient measures to ensure non infestation in your home. Did you have any fleas in the carpet or were all the measures precautionary? If precautionary I would not worry further unless there is indeed evidence of infestation. However, if your mind requires appeasing then go for the whole fumigation bit. Personally I would just flea bomb the whole darn house, twice to be sure.

good luck and I hope your pest invasion is solved. And yes I too have brought home a cat from the vet that was totally infested, including the bedding she went in with! Made me wonder how the heck . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

My brother is a pest controller in Sydney - this is a link to their website - click on the "about us" page and call the Enmore number and speak with Simone (my sil), she's wonderful and will arrange something to suit. If you have any questions about kid safety with whatever chemicals they use, she'll be able to answer them without a problem. They are very environmentally conciencious and are very good at what they do.

Good luck!

Hi we just went through something similar;)
We did not get a pest controler in we went through a lot of products and finaly found a good one it worked wonderfully no fleas since the treatment of the house and pets. They are flea bombs unfortunatly I threw out the cans a month ago but I purchased them at a pet shop called Pet Stock not sure if its in SYD but they are a chain so maybe... Anyway the bombs not only kill fleas but alter them somehow so even if you get a flea it wont be able to breed properly for about six months.... These flea bombs are safe for the pets BUT you need to be out of the house for 24hrs with everything closed one bomb does 5 meters square! They are not cheep but are worth it the only problem is if you have fish tanks;(
Hope this is some help.
Vic
