As the residents start to return to their burnt out properties and the grim reality of the situation starts to really sink in, more and more injured animals who managed to survive the bushfires are being rescued and some will need ongoing care for the next year. Some of the vets in the area have lost their surgeries and are apparently working out of their cars to help out, and rescue workers need ongoing supplies to look after the many burnt animals who are only just being found now. They are looking for more assistance for the animal rescue work, especially medical supplies- fluids, gloves, syringes, bandages, Divetelact, cages, and they can always use sheets and towels and pillowcases. We have a load of goods kindly brought up to Sydney by Carolyn (Isabeau) which will most likely be sent down to Liz (Lotus) who will take them directly out to the vets and rescue workers in the Kinglake area, and are wondering if anyone else would be able to assist with more before we send the pallet down to Melbourne. Can you please let me know via this thread, or via PM, I would need the goods dropped off in Marrickville in Sydney, or to my home in the Eastern Suburbs. Thanks very much. smile.gif

Doreen has anyone set up a PayPal account for these vets in this circumstance or are they relying on RSPCA donations? If there is an account, who is managing it? Thanx.

I'm not sure Marjorie, they seem to be working independently in their own areas, perhaps in association with some registered wildlife rescue groups. I wonder if Liz (Lotus) or anyone else will know, perhaps they will see this post and respond here.

Nigels Animal Rescue in Melbourne have been helping out with donations for bush fire affected animals. Its worth giving him a call 0427 533 083 to see if he is able to help or at maybe point you in the right direction. You guys are awesome for helping out like this.
