Hello everyone,

I am finally picking up my little ones from Ingrids Haven next week and have completed a cat enclosure at the side of my house. The only thing is I am worried they will climb over the top somehow. I have a 6.5 foot colorbond fence without capping on one side and my brick house on the other. I am convinced that they will either jump up on the window sill and launch themselves over the fence. Also worried that if any other cats decide to jump in. I want to put netting across the top to prevent this, hubby won't do it because he doesn't want it to look like a prison ranting.gif . So I have to do it without him...All I need is a handy man to screw some hooks or rope wire with eyelets from one end to the other (15mtrs long) and the width is approx 1.3mtrs. I am looking at buying the netting from catnets but they don't have any installers here in Melbourne. I do have 5 rolls of pvc chicken wire which are 1M x 5M but not sure how to put this on.....any ideas??

I would really appreciate any advise or contacts. I am from Melbourne in the North Western Suburbs close to Broadmeadows.

Cheers bye1.gif

Hi there,
Well I do believe you may have a problem with the cats jumping out even without the window sill. We had one of our cats jump to the top o a six foot fence straight up without a run up or anything.

The PVC Chicken mesh would be easy to attach by fixing it with staples to a length of timber which is then screwed to the wall. It would be similar on the other end with a length of timber that slips down into hooks attached to the Color bond fence. Having these hooks on the fence means that you can roll up the netting when the cats aren't outside.

We recently built one for our cats and they absolutely love it. It covers the window of the spare bedroom but you can still see out easily and the garden and water feature make it look a lot less like a prison! The wire mesh we used is 25mm square and our two dogs haven't managed to break it but I would guess the same wire would be suitable to use in your situation if you wanted to make it less conspicuous.

Here is a photo of the enclosure we built
