Advertised in our local paper was a cattery for removal 7.5m by 3.5m has 10 cat runs five having ouside runs. The boarding kennel/cattery closed so selling everything including this cattery. Got it for $500 the owners where selling it cheap as it is going to take a lot of work dismantling it and re building we are not going to buid it back as it was although I would love to we more than likely will build it to half the size need some ideas in how other people woul rebuild it some pictures I took including one of the inside after dismantling the inside a few more weeks to go to remove it completely. To give you an idea it looks to be a single car garage with insulation and wall panels and floorboards added to make it look like a room.

$500!!!! My goodness the material alone would probably be worth $5000 - what a buy. Yes it will take time to rebuild it but you should end up with something excellent.

I would not have any idea what you would do with it....depends on the place you are going to put it, how many cats you have, what size enclosures you want.

One thing to do is to give it a good spray with F10 after a wash down with bleach.

Love to see what you build.

Lucky you, we are all so envious. As Heather said a good scrub and soak wioth F10 is needed.

Great bargain for materials. Only problem is if you try to put it back together differently the pieces
wont fit so if you design something different you may waste a lot.
Its a good size but not much room to house 10 cats. If you rebuild at half the size there will only be space for 1 or 2 cats really. To build for half the size would probably cost less using new materials & less labour & fuel.

What a brilliant buy.I would probably make two pens into one to make them larger and open them up a bit and do away with the little doggy door things. Lots of shelves to climb around on up nice and high and if you know someone that is handy with a welder or you could use little right angle joiners you can make your cattery any way you want.We would love to see pics of your progress.
Good luck and have fun.Your kitties will love you for this.

Bargain! I guess because you are out in the country they knew they wouldn't get any more for it. Love to follow the progress, please post some updates as you go.

In an ideal world where money is no object buying everything new is wonderful....but $500 is nothing when you are thinking of an enclosure.....those panels will be so valuable when you are building......and the result will be fantastic and worth the work. Been there and done that and would do it again 'cos I will always be on a budget.....lol.

I've thought about this ..I love the outside runs ....maybe just make one large run with lots of little doors ..Inside ..I'd use the runs to build an airlock, ..so you can open the front door without an escape and a way to shut the outside run if you need to. Maybe a separate lounge area with up high shelves and old furniture inside for damp weather ...you could make a doggy door into the airlock area so wet or hot weather isn't an issue..

We were very lucky to get it because they had about 10 people ring for it while we were their I was going to go to the cat show in Albury on Saturday if I had I would have missed out because at least 2 people were at the show and couldn't make it out until Sunday. Neil my Defacto thought it was worth the price even only for the materials. Some of it like floorboards and lining boards will have to be thrown away but other parts are more than useable I sometimes think what have I got myself into because it is a lot of work but hopefully I will have something to show for it in the end. But keep your ideas coming as it is all useful. If I was going to use it fullsize I would Make the 10 runs into five or less because I thought the runs to small but I'm Fussy.

If it is a single car garage and that is going with it everything else is a bonus for that price, they sell garden sheds for about $200 second hand.

A suggestion for the setup - build the cages internally so that you still have a walkway and storage area accessible via the PA door and as "fleabag" suggested it will give you an airlock in case of an escapee. You can do what ever suits for the outsides with what ever materials you are able to use.

How are you going with the run? I would love to see progress and the finished product, but probably too early to ask for this as it appears to be a big job.
