Hello,

I am looking for somewhere to get a cat enclosure/run made and installed. After much googling and searching, I am unable to find any business in Perth who does cat runs. If anyone knows of somewhere in Perth I can go, please let me know.

Thankyou,

Sarah

Securacat come over to Perth to do runs. They are coming over for our national cat show in July.

You need googling advice. wink_3.gif

Try also Catnip who have a Perth installer. See their stockists links. Also Hutchwest.

Try these people..... http://www.hutchwest.com/Custom.htm - they customise and also try Metlink...they make beautiful enclosures...and although they are in WA do not have a web site.

Metland and Hutchwest make enclosures and aviaries but they dont do enclosures like side of house ones. I have some Metland ones and they are great but if you want an aviary one I would get an Absco as they are as good but cheaper. Hutchwest make the big arch ones. Carole has some and they are great, super solid, roomy and tall.

For side enclosure, netting type ones we have catnip here and Securakat (spelt it wrong before) come over about once a month from SA to do installations here. They tend to work out cheaper even with the travel. They are coming to our CCCA National show and will have a freestanding Kat Cube on display which we will be auctioning off at the show. They also have testimonials from WA people that they have done installations for and I think one or two allow viewing.

I am thinking of getting one of the big Kat Cubby cubes that go up against a door. They are on the Kat Cube page. They had one on display at the ACF National. They can do a double one and it would be good where our laundry door is.

Pamela I always included their information and a sample of the mesh in my new cat owners packs.....I see they have a new web page and love the Gallery....particularly the photo of the two cats sleeping on the clothesline....

It looks a very user friendly option. I think Hutchwest would also make something to order if wire is wanted - or so my daughter said - they have ordinary square aviaries as well as the rounded ones.

I am thinking of enclosing an un-used space along one side of my house for Levi. The Secureakat mesh looks great and one of the photos in the gallery is very like the area I have in mind. Has anyone used it? How secure would it be, not so much to keep my cats in, but if neighbourhood cats try to walk on it?

Linda

Edited to ask: has anyone ever used http://www.kittyking...et/default.html ??

Gee, those HutchWest dome ones are nice. You could grow vines over and it would be lovely for the cats.

How handy are you?

If you have someone to help these people are very helpful and this netting is dirt cheap. This is what we used and we have a huge enclosure down the side of our house and beyond. You buy it in 5, 10 or 14.2 metre width and then by the linear metre so it works out cheaply. Then a few eye hooks from Bunnings.

Cheers

Thanks Julie,

I checked out the prices of the netting and it's really cheap!! I got a quote from Sekureakat and the price is expensive but I have no doubt that they would do a good job.

Now I am in a dilemma as I just don't have the time at the moment to either install the enclosure myself or go over to O'Connor to pick up the netting and run around organising the right tools. There's no doubt that having someone do the job for me would be heaps easier, I guess I have to weigh up money poor vs time poor. LOL What to do!!!

Linda

Hi Linda,
Maybe you could try www.catnets.com.au They also have cheap netting, and they sell all the bits and pieces you'll need to put it up. They are very helpful and can talk you through whats needed for your install, you can get everything you need in one go. They have a huge image gallery for some ideas too. They don't have installers in WA though.

All the best... smile.gif

by choice if money not an a problem would you use the netting or galvanised weld mesh? to enclose a large area? I have all oriental types so it needs to be really secure and last long term, I am renovating and it is costing me a fair bit so I might as well get exactly the enclosure I want.

I'd go wire.....there are some good manufacturers over in Victoria if you don't have them in SA......You could almost be encouraged to come over to have a look - buying the pre-fab and shipping them back.

It's only a small area along the side of the house. I have decided to just bite the bullet and have the netting done. I hadn't actually spent the whole of the stimulus money so I guess this is my contribution to stimulating the economy! The netting is very unobtrusive and given that it's attached to a neighbour's fence, I want to minimise any impact on them.

I could have done the netting myself without a doubt, but am really lacking in time at the moment and have only recently started a new job so not in a position to take time off to run around (especially as I have a holiday booked that was already arranged before commencement and have all my leave committed).

The area itself will be difficult for Levi to escape from even without the netting so I am very confident that it will be secure.

Now I need to come up with some creative ideas to add some play features for him. I was thinking some shelves at different levels and maybe some sort of hammock. Any suggestions will be welcome! (especially if they are cheap!)

The area will be very hot mid summer so may not be particularly usable some days, but should be fine for much of the year!
