There is a new tool which lists the cat owners by suburbs, it virtually creates local cat lovers communities.
So when a cat goes missing, all the registered cat lovers living in the area receive an email with a photo and description of the missing cat.
I have started one in St Kilda, so if you live there please join wink_3.gif

Fantastic idea!!!!!! Have joined, I will be looking out for lost cats in the Campbelltown area, South-West Sydney. Another good idea is to register your animals with the National pet register, its FREE! Animation.gif
heres their website

https://www.petregister.com.au/

You register your pets details, vet clinic and photo. They send you out a tag to put on your animals collar, similar to the old council tags.
Every pet has a number that relates to their info on the database, if your pet is found by someone they can call the number on the tag, which is is open to calls 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They quote the number on the tag and Pet register can then get in contact with you. All my animals are registered, as well as being microchipped. clapping.gif

adding to this, Pet Search have this service available for all lost pets - dogs, cats, birds, ferrets etc, whereby you can sign up to receive notices via email when a pet goes missing in your postcode, and we also notify you when the pet has been reunited.
Visit www.petsearch.com.au and click on "get involved" it is working really well.

Lookformycat is focused on lost cats everywhere in the world,
they have started Cat Neighbourhood Watch communities in Australia, Canada and the USA.
I like the fact that the sightings, like the alerts are instantly sent to the lookers,
they also send you a notice when a lost cat is found.
Now they even send the alerts on Twitter.
