I'm crying at work. Thank you for sharing your story.
I'm so sorry it happened to you, no one should have had to endure that, or what happened during February. |

Carol
My thoughts are with you like they were when I heard about Mick. I admire your courage to write down what happened, as you owed no one an explanation. May you get stronger every day and be able to look back without too much sorrow. The media, I can't comment about, whilst they skewed things, they also bought it home to everyone what had actually happened and the breadth of the disaster, and they too were mourning the loss of one of their collegues. Like some one else said, Australia is a harsh unforgiving country to live in, but at the same time it is a beautiful one. Carmel |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/bearhug.sml) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bearhug.sml) Have only just found this thread..TY for sharing your story.
I think that would have to of been one of the worst days in the history of Australia..I felt so useless here in ballarat unable to help ANYONE... I don't know how ANYONE can go on after losing everything..animals,familys homes etc. If i lost eveything here then I don't know how I'd cope. I have been thinking of you lots carol & wondering how you are doing. I know that people who lost homes etc in the fires are still doing it tough & I don't know how to help..I feel I need to do something i just don't know what..even somethign small like the children who may of lost a Loved pet, I'd like to give them a bunny & a cage free of course..but I don't know where to start..nor do I know even if they'd need an animal to worry about at this stage.. I sit here & look at how good I have it compared to all those people who have lost everything.... |

Hi Carol. I haven't been on for ages, so didn't see this thread. I don't know you, but I had tears streaming down my face at your story!!! I live in Vic, but I'm about 2 hours away from both Bendigo and Melbourne, but I travelled to Eaglehawke on the 6th Feb and then had to go to the airport in Melbourne on the 8th, so I drove through before and after the fires, I was freaking out both times and the fires were really no where near me.
I can't imagine how you must have felt, but just know that so many people are thinking of you, the ones you know as well as the ones you don't. Denise. |

Oh Carol...I am touched and truly humbled by your story which I have only just read. The Belgrave fire came with 500 metres of us and that was scary enough. You deserve only good things from this point....you have paid for them in advance.

Terribly sorry for your loss, the bush fires were horrible.... I remember standing outside the sky was red and black... tree branches scattered across the road and heavy sheets of smoke covering the sky.

Carol, I am truly sorry for your loss and what you went through during the fires. I don't know you personally but your strength and courage is an inspiration. I went through the devastation in Gippsland and was part of the emergency response to this horrific day. Words cannot describe what I witnessed, so I offer my support and lots of hugs to you.
