Fence Capping

Does anyone know if fence capping with stop other cats coming into our backyard? I'd love for our guys to be able to play out in the backyard without fear that they can escape or have other cats come in. We have a small enclosure but Sophie and Gizmo hate being locked in there when I'm outside, they want to be with me.
Also if anyone has contacts for who can provide this service, feel free to let me know. I don't know how hard it would be to do ourselves, we're honestly not that handy.

It depends on the angle of the fence capping and how much you extend it.....I have had my fecne capped for 10 years and in the early days two cats came in - were trapped and never saw another.
I think it would need to go both ways to prevent it totally but if the extension into your yard was enough that dropping down was not an attractive option it would stop most cats. Make it also unstable - floppy - and most cats would not be too keen to walk on it.

I have a totally netted in section of my garden with strong netting and shadecloth stretched between the house and the fence - completely cat proof - or so I thought!
My 4 cats who live in this section have tested it from inside and except for a slight slip up when 1 dug under the gate (now fixed) - it is "houdini-proof".
BUT a few weeks ago the neighbour's cat somehow ended up on the inside! He was then trapped and faced my 4 - LOL!
I double checked every cm of the netting and the only possible way in must have been in the middle of the netting where it joined the shadecloth - he must have walked accross the netting "roof" and jumped in from above.
I don't think he'll be back any time soon - he was terrified! LOL

Hi,
Before I had my courtyard netted I did some fence capping done (not very well but cats never escaped) and never encountered a cat in my courtyard but my cats were only allowed out in the courtyard (pre-netting) when I was around. Before I had anything I used to have the cat next door wandering through my courtyard but once I put fence capping up never saw him again in my courtyard. When I first did fence capping would randomly see him sitting on my fence but never saw him again in my courtyard, and now with netting no risk of a cat getting in to my courtyard.
Regards
Deborah
